WEB DEVELOPER
The West Wireless Health Institute is non-profit research institute whose mission is to advance health and wellbeing around the world by identifying, validating and accelerating the use of innovative and cost-effective wireless solutions to critical, unmet medical and community needs.
The Web developer will be responsible for executing technical elements for West Wireless Health Institute interactive projects including the Web site, new media initiatives, eMarketing and search engine optimization. S/He will work closely with the communications and content team to provide a timely, dynamic and engaging interactive/online presence for external relations, media/analyst relations, publications, special events, meetings and tradeshows. S/He will also work closely with the CTO and IT team to translate business needs into technology requirements, to help clearly identify and create technology solutions to ensure they are in line with interactive strategy, and to collaborate on internal/Intranet services/systems across the organization. S/He must have hands on technical experience and Web development/coding abilities.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelors degree required in computer science or a related field from an accredited college/university. Masters degree preferred.
Ability to develop rich Internet applications using XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Experience working in a fast-paced start-up, communications, or public relations environment required. Previous experience in the non-profit, wireless and/or health care industries preferred.
Expert knowledge of hand-coded HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and DOM. Strong experience in developing standards based, CSS-driven table-less layouts. Knowledge of JavaScript/UI libraries and their use in implementing AJAX solutions.
Experience working with CMS, Portal technologies and backend frameworks (Java, .NET).
Ability to translate visual designs into completed HTML pages while strictly adhering to design specifications.
Ability to ensure cross browser compatibility and resolve bugs.
Extensive experience in the development of product & platform, web/open source software and architectures.
Deep understanding of core Internet delivery technology; extensive experience in the analysis and design of software systems; ability to make decisions and drive platform architecture and solutions.
Experience and understanding of multi-media, streaming media and video technologies.
Ability to establish and implement front-end structure and standards as well as stay current with emerging front-end technologies.
Understanding of SEO and accessibility issues as they relate to the front-end.
Strong graphics manipulation/optimization skills using photoshop, Illustrator etc.
Ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
