We are looking for a highly effective Web Application Developer to design and develop web interfaces for new applications being developed by Fetch’s Labs Advanced Technology team. The ideal candidate will not only be a talented programmer, but capable of designing visually appealing user interfaces. This individual will take proposed designs from graphic artists, develop implementations, and improve and polish the visual design and interactive experience.
This is a 4-6 month contract position, with the possibility of significant extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work with Advanced Technology team leaders to conceive, design, prototype, and implement user interfaces for new technologies.
* Analyze and understand key behavior, tasks, drivers, and motivations and translate them into meaningful interactions
* Work with product team to design and test the user experience for potential new products
* Collaborate with research and development teams to create user interface flows and requirements, wire-frames, and provide UI input during product development
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum 4-7 years experience in software development, including significant experience designing and implementing web-based software applications and user interfaces
* Extensive experience creating prototypes to demonstrate and evaluate designs
* Good understanding of best practices in interaction design, web design, user interface/usability/information architecture
* Experience in business-to-business applications
* Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced business environment
REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Server-side development:
o Java, Hibernate, MySQL, intermediate SQL knowledge, Struts2 (or equiv MVC framework)
* Client-side development:
o HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DHTML, JSP tag libraries
* Client-side design skills:
o Good HTML and CSS design techniques (beyond just programming competency)
o Be able to implement a mockup and suggest aesthetic/design/layout improvements
