We’re an early-stage startup developing a forward-thinking application that will revolutionize the online rental industry, a space that is starving for innovation and we’re prepared to knock it out of the park. Our small team has big aspirations and all the ingredients (with the exception of YOU) to make it happen. The company is privately funded and the founders have strong relationships for venture funding if/when appropriate.
We’re looking for an individual to lead the development of our aggregator, which will collect information from web-based locations and convert its findings into our data model. This position allows great flexibility and freedom which requires a disciplined self-starter that can deliver and understands ownership. This is a contract to hire position; dependent on candidate consideration may be also made for equity.
Required Skills:
- Good understanding of Object Orientated Programming and design patterns
- An unheard talent in either C, C++, Java or Ruby(>=1.9)
- Knowledge of SQL (preferably MySQL), and XML
- Understanding of the HTTP protocol (1.0/1.1)
- Understanding of the DOM Document
Desired skills:
- Experience Aggregating/Scraping/Cleansing data
- Regular Expressions / Stackbased parsers
- Image Manipulation libraries (GD/ImageMagick/etc.)
- Memcache experience
- Subversion
