Oracle Database Manager
San Diego, CA

We are seeking a passionate Oracle database technology leader to inspire and lead a team of accomplished technologists. This is a hands-on technical management position leading a team of 6+ Oracle DBA’s responsible for maintaining, supporting and troubleshooting the Oracle RDBMS and associated options.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position will be responsible for all database services related SOP’s, such as: database administrative tasks, proactive performance tuning and monitoring, trouble-shooting, back-up and recovery, partitioning, replication, installations and configurations on an as needed basis, apply patches and upgrades. The DBA Manager will also be responsible for creating database services vision, road map and execution in collaboration with cross functional peers and enterprise visionaries. The DBA staff is operational as well as application SME’s. The candidate must be able to communicate well across cross functional teams and executive management.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have 7+ years of Oracle experience, preferably in a large scale multi-node RAC failover and DR environment
• Must have 3+ years of Managerial experience leading a team of Oracle DBA’s, preferably in a VLDB on Linux in a production environment
• BS Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
• Must have Oracle 10g experience including RAC (including high speed Interconnects), Grid technologies, DataGuard and Data Streams
• Must be very strong with SQL Tuning (especially within RAC), SQL traces, SQLLDR
• RMAN for backup and recovery
• OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) for monitoring and performance tuning
• Candidate must be at the expert level in Performance Tuning and Monitoring
• Must be able to write Unix shell scripts and experience writing/modifying Perl scripts is a plus.
• Extensive SQL and PL/SQL experience required.
• Data warehousing experience and knowledge is required
• Experience in high volume transaction environments (1+ billion updates or transactions/day) is a big plus
• High experienced in data replication and CDC solutions from multiple vendors
• Partitioning
• Working with vendors in managing licenses, support contracts and new purchase negotiations
• Experience with multiple storage subsystems such as Clarion and Symmetrix (EMC, AMS (Hitachi)) etc..
• Experience in deploying and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Experience leading the design, development and deployment of integrated technology and business strategies, processes and systems.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with high growth rates, managing multiple concurrent tasks to completion.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
• Strong business acumen with an appreciation of the strategy and drivers for the business.
• Familiarity with quality and productivity tools and methodologies
• Ability to communicate effectively in a service relationship with software development teams along with outstanding presentation and negotiation skills.
